[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The entertainment and advertising sectors are reacting to allegations that singer and actor Cha Eun-woo, a member of the group ASTRO, evaded taxes amounting to approximately 20 billion KRW. Several brands have already taken steps to distance themselves from the actor.

Shinhan Bank and skincare brand Avib have removed Cha Eun-woo’s advertisements and promotional videos from their platforms. Healthcare brand Bodyfriend, which features Cha Eun-woo in marketing campaigns, has reportedly decided not to renew their contract when it expires in February.

Industry sources noted that Bodyfriend faces particular challenges, as the upcoming Lunar New Year is a peak sales period for wellness devices such as massage chairs. The brand may need to adjust its promotional strategy in response to the controversy.

Bodyfriend has been running campaigns with Cha Eun-woo since August 2024, including the ‘Full-Body Relaxation’ promotion and customer engagement events such as talk shows.
