[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 16th that it has appointed Michael Coulter, former President of Global Operations at Leonardo DRS, as its new CEO for overseas operations. Coulter will oversee Hanwha Group's global defense businesses, including Hanwha Aerospace.

Coulter, a political science graduate from the University of Maryland, has extensive experience in the global defense industry. At Leonardo DRS, he served as President of Global Operations and Senior Vice President for Business Development, leading international projects. Prior to this, he was responsible for global business development at General Dynamics.

Before transitioning to the private sector, Coulter held prominent roles in the U.S. government, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs. He also served in the U.S. Navy, working with NATO and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Hanwha Aerospace's decision to appoint Coulter reflects its strategy to bolster its global defense capabilities, particularly as it anticipates changes in U.S. defense policies during a potential "Trump 2.0" era.
