Hanwha Precision Machinery announced on January 1 that it has appointed Kim Jae-hyun, head of the New Business Promotion Office at Hanwha Momentum, as its new CEO. This marks the replacement of Lee Seong-su, the current CEO, who will step down after one year in the role.

Kim, a veteran in the semiconductor sector with over 30 years of experience, holds a degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Seoul National University and a master's and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. He has previously held key positions at Samsung Electronics, Lam Research, and Wonik IPS, focusing on the development of new semiconductor equipment technologies.

With Kim's appointment, Hanwha Precision Machinery aims to accelerate its technological advancements and R&D efforts, particularly in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) manufacturing equipment, where he is expected to play a crucial role in the company's future growth.
