Starbucks Korea Humidifier Subject to Voluntary Recall (Photo provided by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) |
[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] South Korea’s Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, announced on February 1 that Starbucks Korea will conduct a voluntary recall of all units of two humidifier models distributed to consumers as promotional items.
The recall covers humidifier models STH-600G and STH-600P, with a total of 393,548 units affected. The products were distributed between October 30 and December 31 last year.
Starbucks Korea decided to implement the voluntary recall after identifying a battery-related fire incident involving one of the humidifiers on January 24. In accordance with the Framework Act on Product Safety, the company reported the incident to the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards and consulted with the authority on follow-up measures.
To prevent further incidents, Starbucks Korea subsequently opted to proceed with a preemptive voluntary recall of all affected products.
The agency advised consumers in possession of the recalled humidifiers to immediately discontinue use and to apply for the recall by following the instructions provided on Starbucks Korea’s official website or through the Starbucks mobile application.
