[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Illyang Pharmaceutical, which supplied health supplements to Daiso, has decided to withdraw the products just five days after their launch.
According to reports from the pharmaceutical industry on the 28th, Illyang Pharmaceutical has decided to stop selling nine types of health supplements through Daiso. The company had initially supplied Daiso with a first batch of products, including probiotics, but will not recall the already distributed stock, allowing the remaining products to continue being sold. The price of the supplements ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 KRW, which is about one-sixth of the price on the company’s own online store.
While Illyang Pharmaceutical has not disclosed the reasons for its withdrawal from Daiso, there are speculations that a “boycott” movement, particularly among pharmacies, may have influenced the decision. Previously, when it was reported that several pharmaceutical companies were supplying low-priced health supplements to Daiso, there was a surge in online reactions calling for a boycott of these companies’ products.
KongKundang Health, which plans to supply two types of health supplements, including Lactofit and Lutein-Zeaxanthin, to Daiso starting in March, stated, “There are no changes to our plan, and we are currently reviewing the situation.” KongKundang Health is a subsidiary of KongKundang and has been selling its products through various distribution channels, including online stores and convenience stores.
