[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, August 25, 2025 — Samyang Foods has dismissed as false recent claims circulating on social media that a Canadian influencer filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the company after allegedly developing a stomach ulcer from frequently eating its popular “Buldak Ramen.”
In a statement on August 25, the company said: “The claims made in some recent social media posts are entirely groundless. There has been no lawsuit or trial involving Samyang Foods in North America.”
The controversy began when a Canadian influencer alleged he had suffered a stomach ulcer due to consuming Buldak Ramen and claimed to have filed a CAD 15 million (approx. KRW 15.1 billion) lawsuit against the manufacturer. Despite this assertion, the influencer continued to upload videos showcasing his favorite Buldak Ramen recipes and eating challenges, fueling further debate.
Samyang Foods said it initially chose not to respond to the individual’s claims but decided to issue a clarification after the story gained traction in major Korean media outlets, which the company said had caused “serious reputational damage.”
The company added: “We cannot overlook the malicious intent behind these posts and are considering immediate legal action in response.”
