[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 23rd that 11 vehicle models from Hyundai Motor, Kia, Mercedes-Benz Korea, and Tesla Korea—totaling 343,250 units—have been recalled due to manufacturing defects.

Hyundai’s Porter II EV and one other model, totaling 141,125 units, will be recalled starting February 3 due to a design flaw in the 12V battery sensor. Additionally, 19,830 units of the Nexo will undergo corrective action starting today for inadequate durability in the emergency hazard light switch.

Kia’s Sorento Hybrid and another model, totaling 89,598 units, will be recalled from January 24 due to software errors in the body domain control unit that manages headlights, tire pressure monitoring systems, and smart key functions. The Bongo III EV and another model, totaling 86,204 units, will begin recalls on January 31 for the same 12V battery sensor design issue.

Mercedes-Benz S580 4MATIC and another model, involving 4,068 units, have been undergoing recalls since January 16 due to engine control unit software errors.

Tesla’s Model Y and another model, totaling 2,425 units, have been recalled since January 14 for non-compliance with safety standards due to software defects in the tire pressure monitoring system, which prevents proper tire pressure warning operations.

Owners can verify if their vehicles are subject to the recall and view specific defect details by entering their vehicle registration or chassis number on the Automobile Recall Center website.
