[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SK Hynix is reviewing plans to establish a new overseas entity in the United States dedicated to overseeing artificial intelligence (AI)-related investments across the SK Group.
According to industry sources on January 27, SK Hynix is expected to hold a board meeting to discuss agenda items including the creation of a foreign subsidiary focused on AI investments.
The new entity is reportedly planned to be based in the U.S. and may incorporate stakes currently held by SK Inc. and SK Innovation in TerraPower, a U.S.-based small modular reactor (SMR) company, among other assets.
The entity is expected to serve as a control tower for strategic investments across the broader AI ecosystem, while also managing overseas investments and equity holdings.
