[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire FläktGroup, Europe’s largest HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) solutions provider, for €1.5 billion (approximately KRW 2.4 trillion). The acquisition marks Samsung’s first large-scale M&A since its 2017 acquisition of Harman International, and comes just one week after acquiring the audio division of U.S.-based Masimo.

FläktGroup, founded in 1918 and currently owned by UK-based private equity firm Triton, specializes in providing high-efficiency HVAC systems to data centers, airports, terminals, hospitals, and other large infrastructure facilities. The company generates approximately €700 million (KRW 1.1 trillion) in annual revenue.

As demand for high-efficiency climate control systems continues to grow due to global warming and green energy regulations, Samsung sees this acquisition as a key step in securing new growth engines. The global commercial HVAC market is projected to grow from $61 billion in 2023 to $99 billion by 2030, with the data center segment expected to surge from $16.7 billion to $44.1 billion over the same period.

With the explosive demand for data centers driven by generative AI, robotics, autonomous driving, and extended reality (XR), Samsung plans to invest aggressively in the HVAC sector, leveraging FläktGroup’s expertise to strengthen its position in the global infrastructure market and power its next wave of growth.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
