Samsung Electronics Appoints Mauro Porcini as Chief Design Officer of DX Division

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics announced on April 1 that it has appointed Mauro Porcini, a world-renowned industrial designer, as the Chief Design Officer (CDO) and President of its Device Experience (DX) Division. This marks the first time Samsung Electronics has appointed a foreigner as the top design executive.


Born in Italy, Porcini holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He began his career as a product designer at Philips, later serving as CDO at 3M and PepsiCo, earning a distinguished reputation in the global design industry.


Samsung currently operates global design research centers in seven cities around the world, including Seoul (South Korea), San Francisco (USA), London (UK), Milan (Italy), Beijing (China), Noida (India), Tokyo (Japan), and São Paulo (Brazil).


Porcini will be based in Seoul and will oversee the company’s global design organization. With his addition, Samsung plans to further strengthen its design capabilities across all business areas, including mobile, TV, and home appliances.
