[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Woori Bank disclosed on June 16 that it has identified a financial incident involving fraudulent document submissions by an external party, with total damages amounting to approximately 4.08 billion won.

According to the bank, the incident occurred between August 19 and August 30, 2024. The case is linked to a so-called “discounted property sale” scam, in which falsified documents were used.

A Woori Bank official stated that part of the losses may be recoverable, as the transaction involved commercial property collateral.

The bank believes the incident was caused by external fraud and said it plans to conduct further investigations. Based on the findings, it will consider filing criminal complaints or charges against those involved.
