[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, August 11 — YES24, South Korea’s largest online bookstore, suffered another ransomware attack early Sunday morning, disrupting access to its website and digital services, including e-book access.

The company reported that at approximately 4:30 a.m., external ransomware infiltrated its systems, forcing an emergency shutdown to prevent further damage. “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to our customers,” YES24 said in a statement. “As a precautionary measure, we have blocked our systems, are conducting urgent security checks, and implementing defense measures. We are working to restore services quickly using backup data.”

This is not the first such incident. In June, YES24 experienced a major ransomware breach that crippled its app and online network for five days before services were restored. Following that incident, the company offered compensation to affected members and pledged stronger security measures, including a full review of its systems, the introduction of an external security advisory panel, and increased cybersecurity spending.

Despite these commitments, the recurrence of an attack within two months has raised concerns about the platform’s security resilience and the effectiveness of the measures implemented after the previous breach.
